Susette taught art for 21 years on a high School level (Skyline High School, Salt Lake City and Williamstown, Australia). She wrote and initiated the first IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization) Art program at Skyline. She has taught privately in her Midway Studio and was a founding figure in the Midway Art Association in addition to being its president for 8 years and leading the annual Wasatch Plein Air Competition there.
Susette created the "Limness Contract". This was a personal project in which she completed 300 Plein air paintings in one year. Eighty percent (80%) of those paintings (or "sketches") were done in acrylic. Susette knows how to use acrylics as loosely as watercolors and as thickly as oils. During her contract she painted in the dry heat of summer as well as the below freezing temperatures of snowy Midway.
Susette will share her expertise in oils during the second workshop and will also explain the use of oils over acrylics for a wonderful effect and will share her love of both mediums. She is a university, studio-trained artist in figure, and a field-trained plein air painter in landscape and garden floral subjects. Her expertise and enthusiasm for painting, seeing and understanding the possibilities of this beautiful visual world will plant seeds for everyone — new as well as experienced at painting.
